Cheer practice questions

Welcome, Cougar cheer families! Our squads serve grades 4-8 and support youth tackle football at home and away. For this week's practice and game, use your squad's own instructions for arrival, clothing and pickup.

Game field and arrival

Our squads bring energy to youth tackle games at home and away. Home games use Cougar Field at Chatham High School, 255 Lafayette Ave / 314 Shunpike Rd, Chatham, NJ 07928. Expect travel for away games and check your squad's arrival plan.

Coaches post weather calls in TeamSnap. Read the latest message before leaving home. Our field guide helps when checking a destination.

Clothing questions

Ask the parent managers about uniform pieces before ordering. Some items from the previous season can be reused. For practice, wear properly fitting athletic clothing and sneakers, with long hair secured away from the face. Leave jewelry, jeans and long artificial nails at home.

• Tell the volunteers your child's grade.
• Name the item you are asking about.
• Ask for the current clothing instructions.

Help with the squad

Can you help as a parent manager? No cheer experience is needed. You will need a background check and safety certification training. Email chathamreccheer@gmail.com to ask what the role involves.

Our high school cheerleaders coach with certified parent managers supervising. Each practice and game needs two parent managers present. More volunteers make it easier to share coverage. Thank you for helping our squads have a season together!

Practice planning

Plan for one weekly practice and one weekly football game, plus pregame practice. Games are usually on Sundays, though Saturdays are possible. Confirm your squad's final practice plan with the parent managers before arranging other activities.

Attendance matters for safe stunting. Talk with the parent managers about any conflict. Our program page can help families comparing activities.

Your cheer contacts are Heather Murray, Laura Halligan, Casey Hollenbeck and Lyndsey Lyons. Email chathamreccheer@gmail.com with your cheerleader's grade. Please take questions and concerns to parent managers rather than contacting the teen coaches directly.

Put your cheerleader's grade and question in the message. For enrollment, read our registration notes and check TeamSnap registration. Ask about current fees and forms before submitting anything.
